I came to Hinton House to rest and lose weight.
What I got was transformation. I lost as much
weight as I wanted to with considerable ease.
This was partly due to the nutrition programme.
I did the juice feasting for a week and didn't
feel hungry at all. Further support comes from
a programme of beneficial exercise and activities
run by a group of excellent practitioners. Best
of all though, is that there is no sense of being
put through a process or having to do anything.
For me, the idea of being able to get into bed
with a pile of books for a week is bliss. Once
I was reassured that this was possible, I relaxed
and participated in most of the program activities.
After a few days, I had the sense of being in
a very safe home, protected from the world, and
emotionally indulged. Rian is a force of nature
and an extraordinary person. She manages a perfect
combination of informality, curiosity and gentle
nudging. I went back into the world feeling like
a new being.
On the outside I was many pounds lighter, clear-skinned
and sparkly-eyed. Perhaps more important, I felt
re-invigorated, excited about challenges in my
path, and energetic enough to take on the world

Rian, the equally beautiful lady of the house
is an amazing person – everyone who knows her
who I have spoken to agrees with me that you just
don’t meet people like her.
She is beautiful, inside and out and her soul
is just pure and so safe. She is also a fountain
of knowledge about nutrition and the healing of
the body. However, she doesn’t just stop at the
healing of the body, she gently takes you towards
nourishing your soul. I have breast cancer and
coming here for ten days was one of the best decisions
I ever made.
My eating habits have changed and my eyes have
been opened so that my whole philosophy on my
lifestyle has been remodelled. I only wish I could
stay here for three weeks or even a month. I am
leaving here today full of hope and life.

I was kindly invited to come and stay at Hinton
House for a week on the juice fasting programme.
I was terrified, anxious and excited all at the
same time and was not convinced that I would manage
it.
I started the programme on the Monday and felt
fine all day and in fact completely energised
by the wheatgrass in morning. I even enjoyed the
green juice throughout the day. I started to feel
a little anxious around 5.30pm when I knew I had
to cook for my little boy, but that was fine and
because I wasn't hungry and surprisingly, I didn't
even feel like munching on his food while I was
cooking it.
I went to bed that night looking forward to my
morning juice and wheatgrass. The second day was
harder, but we had a wonderful walk and did an
hour of exercise, which made me feel great again
afterwards. Things felt slightly harder on the
second evening but I persevered.
By Thursday, having watched a fascinating food
demonstration, I was so ready to tuck into our
beautifully delicious lunch of greens and sprouts.
Yummy. I am now back home and have not even felt
like eating cooked food. I feel completely energised
and revitalised and even my thoughts seem to be
clearer. I've heard the cliches before about fasting
changing your life, but I now know and feel this
is true first hand and if I carry on feeling as
good as I do today, I would happily fast every
week.
I feel armoured with a new knowledge on nutrition
and health through the daily informative lectures
and really feel that I have found something I
can get into and enjoy, which I know will change
my life for the better.
From being a total junkie on food, coffee and
smoking I've managed to go a whole week without
any of it and without even the urges, this is
all down to Health Etcetera.
I would say to anyone considering a visit to this
magical house you have nothing to lose and only
to gain and benefit your life by coming here.
I want to go back already and do it all again.
The other thing is that I actually go bed to looking
forward to getting up and starting a new day with
my green juice on board. A truly fabulous experience.

Loved the place, peaceful and could quite easily
have stayed longer. Brilliant speakers and great
atmosphere xx
I chose to Juice Fast for my week and was surprised
at how easy and filling it was, leaving me feeling
really detoxed.
Thank you Health Etcetera xx

Thanks, Rian, many thanks for introducing a new
way. I feel fabulous, healthy and glowing. Looking
forward to introducing better healthier meals
for my family. I should have stayed a second week.

I have had a wonderful stay at Heath Etcetera.
It has been very balancing for mind, body and
soul. Fantastic for weight loss and healing. Looking
forward to my next visit!

I arrived at Health Etcetera three weeks ago.
Today is my last day and I am really sorry to
be going home. But not so sad as I know for sure
I will be back in the Summer for another three
week stay.
Not only does Rian make you feel completely at
home, it has been so wonderful listening to such
amazing knowledge and I feel I am leaving here
with all the tools to live a far healthier life.
I have lost 14lbs in weight and have loved nipping
into Winchester sliding into a size 8 jeans, my
skin feels wonderful and my energy levels are
amazing.

Dear Rian
I've been meaning to send you my enormous thanks
for my stay with you. I can't tell you how worthwhile
it was to learn so much about nutrition, so that
I feel heaps better & am really happy! I am
pretty much sticking to a vegan diet, usually
raw! Also taking lots more exercise-great!
I hope you are enjoying half term wherever you
are.
Best wishes to you & the team- Max, Marie,
Michelle & Mitch--you were all brilliant!
Rosemary Williams.
Thank you so much for a wonderful 3-week stay.
I originally planned to stay for a week in order
to detox and lose some weight, but enjoyed the
experience of staying in your lovely house so
much that ended up staying for 3 weeks.
Regarding the weight loss, I originally expected
to lose about 2kg
in a week, but ended up with a total weight loss
of 10kg and I feel
absolutely great too. The combination of living
food; the excellent juice and food you provide,
plus the first class background science regarding
healthy eating have given me the quick results
I wanted, plus the knowledge to maintain that
weight, and to further improve my health and that
of my family too. A very powerful combination.
I cannot thank you enough.

Health Etcetera offered me the chance to dive
headlong into seeing how my body felt with a raw
food diet, while feeling warm, secure and supported.
As a Type 1 Diabetic I never knew what to expect
and yes I was nervous. Immediately I found my
insulin intake dropping dramatically (see below
for my insulin levels), felt more energetic and
everyone kept saying how glowing my skin looked
and how pure my body smelt ... I am a typical
bloke, but what great things to be told!
I empted myself of pre-conceptions, embraced
detox, meditated for the first time, sat in on
lectures and talks and saw a raw chef make everything
possible! It is the mix between the physical,
intellectual and spiritual which makes Health
Etcetera such a unique place. To place the emphasis
of anyone of these above the other would be to
fail to leave the experience open for those attending.
I went to learn how to be less insulin dependent
but also came away learning to slow down my mind
and spirit while feeling more energetic, lighter
(yes spiritually but I also lost weight!) and
empowered.
The Centre is already beautiful and is a work
in progress – just like each of us I guess. It
is a great space to realise you are part of a
community that is already out there, making positive
changes to their own diets and hence the impact
upon this planet .
Here are the typical insulin levels and blood
sugar levels both before and after my week with
you:
Insulin units 8am = 8
Insulin units 12noon = 10
Insulin units 6pm = 24
Insulin units 10pm = 24 (night time insulin, which
is different)
Blood sugar reading 8am = 7.8
Blood sugar reading 12noon = 7.5
Blood sugar reading 6pm = 6.0
Blood sugar reading 10pm = 6.0
Here are the typical insulin levels and blood
sugar levels for my week with you:
Insulin units 8am = 4 (which is half)
Insulin units 12noon = 4 (which is over half)
Insulin units 6pm = 10 (which is over half)
Insulin units 10pm = 20 (night time insulin, which
is different)
Blood sugar reading 8am = 4.3 (around half)
Blood sugar reading 12noon = 5.3 (remember, a
normal person’s reading is a steady 4.9)
Blood sugar reading 6pm = 3.2 (which is too low,
it does take a few weeks to get used to the amount
of insulin to take when you change diet so radically)
Blood sugar reading 10pm = 3.0 (again, a bit hypey,
but it wasn’t too bad as when I come off a sugar
rush due to eating a pizza say)
But, the single biggest impacts were the following:
Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday my detox was pretty
ok (as I am a vegetarian and eat pretty healthy
up to a point already) but I did get a massive
energy rush on these days. But, the week after,
when back to eating ‘normal’ food I felt sluggish
and heavy. I will be adding the morning juice
to my lifestyle for sure. My partner is into meditation
and yoga, so we share that.
